Snow much fun on LI - Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing
Maybe you're best recreation and exercise is outside during the winter! It might be tempting to stick to the warmth of the couch from Dec- April but with well over 20 state parks and numerous county parks across the Island, there is something to be said for getting out and exploring nature. While Long Island's ski hills are now a thing of the past, you can still cross country ski and snow shoe in many picturesque locations.

For those of you who just have to get outdoors during the winter months, the Parks Department permits, with the cooperation of Jack Frost, cross country skiing in all of our major parks and along the perimenters of their golf courses.
