STEAM & STEM on Long Island

Opportunities on Long Island for STEM & STEAM learning are plentiful. Many places have specific STEM/STEAM programs and exhibits. Also be sure to take out Long Island summer camps that are STEM/STEAM focused.

What is STEAM? STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. 

The difference between STEM & STEAM is the incorporation of the arts into the other categories to more fully round learning. STEAM would encourage use of both sides of the brain.

Long Island Children's Museum - Garden City

The museum's programming all year long fosters curiosity and imagination through the exploration of STEM including STEMExplorers, Citizen Science, Calling Young Scientists and more.

Cold Spring Harbor DNA Learning Center - Cold Spring Harbor

STARS is a two-week summer research experience designed to support the next generation of minority scientists, doctors, and other health professionals. This program provides students with state-of-the-art laboratory and computer science skills needed to succeed in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) in college and beyond.
