Boat Tours & Cruises On Long Island

Touring & Cruising Long Island

You don't need to book a private boat tour to experience the waters around Long Island (but you certainly can!). There are wonderful boat tours of area nature and attractions such as Lighthouses. In addition, you can prop up your feet and enjoy a day or sunset cruise and just relax.

American Beauty

Set off from Sag Harbor on a two hour sunset cruises or a 90 minute narrated nature cruise. On the narrated cruise learn about the historic whaling village of Sag Harbor from the water.

Atlantis Explorer Tour

Get ready for an interactive and educational 2 hour adventure aboard the Atlantis Explorer.   The Atlantis Explorer Tour Boat takes you down the Peconic River and into Flanders Bay. Conducted by Aquarium Educators, the adventure offers plenty of opportunity for hands-on exploration while promoting environmental awareness and education about the Peconic Estuary.

Bug Lighthouse Excursion

The East End Seaport Museum hosts this 2 hour cruise to Bug Light which is narrated by the great-grandson of the last keeper of the lighthouse. The cruise is followed by a tour of the inside of the lighthouse.

Christeen, a 60-foot gaff-rigged sloop, is the oldest oyster sloop in America and a National Historic Landmark. Book a tour of Oyster Bay or a Sunset Cruise.

Discovery Wetlands Cruise

The Ward Melville Heritage Organization’s pontoon boat “Discovery” departs from Stony Brook Marine Services located in Stony Brook, NY.  The  27 passenger vessel cruises through the organization’s 88-acre wetlands preserve for a 1 1/2 hour tour.  A naturalist on board explains the wildlife that passengers observe, the natural and human history of the area and the individuals and events that have shaped it.

Freeport Water Taxi

Freeport Water Taxi offers various tours whether it's a one hour day cruise, happy hour or sunset cruises on Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Seasonal cruises available as well. Book to explore the waters of the South Shore.

Great Gatsby Boat Tour

Manhasset Bay served as Fitzgerald's "courtesy bay" separating West Egg and East Egg in The Great Gatsby. The narrated boat tour offered at select time throughout the year. The tour blends the past with the present and seeks to satisfy literature fans, historical buffs and those interested in the life and times of Fitzgerald. Mansion gazers will not be disappointed.

Huntington Lighthouse Tour

A short boat ride from the launch site at Town of Huntington’s Goldstar Battalion Beach out to the Lighthouse where you will receive a guided, educational tour and the opportunity to see the Lighthouse and Huntington Harbor from a whole new perspective.

Manhasset Bay Tour

The Port Water Taxi hosts daily 30 minute tours of Manhasset Bay on their 15 passenger boats. Walk on passengers possible if space allows. Weather permitting there are 6 time slots daily of the Harbor.

Moon Chaser

Great South Bay Excursions on the Moon Chaser feature a live One and half-hour (1 1/2) narrated tour of the wildlife, history, and picturesque scenery of the Great South Bay. Come and enjoy the tranquil beauty of the Fire Island coastline. The Moon Chaser also hosts a cruise to Flynn's on Fire Island where you can have dinner or enjoy one of Long Island's favorite bands as they perform aboard the boat.

Priscilla

Priscilla an original oyster sloop has been returned to her original design, a gaff-rig sloop. This vessel is the oldest and only sailing workboat to survive from the Great South Bay oyster fleet. Lovingly restored by The Long Island Maritime Museum. They offer both public sales and private charters, that depart from the beautiful Snapper Inn located in Oakdale. Each two hour sail is guided by Licensed Captain and volunteer crew and also includes a narrative depicting Oyster Sloop Priscilla's fascinating history. They also have a dine & sail cruise as well as an evening cruise of the Connetquot River.

South Bay Cruises

A 65 foot turn-of-the-century style riverboat, Lauren Kristy, sails from the Bay Shore Marina located at the end of Clinton Ave in Bay Shore. Choose from a variety of cruise options including a lunch cruise, a dinner cruise, lighthouse luncheon and a sightseeing cruise.
