5 Ways To Create An Inviting Porch
Porch Season Is Here! Porches add a tremendous amount of character to the front of any home. These are spaces to welcome you and your guests and they also serve as additional living space. Here are some ways to extenuate and maximize the use of your porch.
💡 Light The Way
Proper lighting is inviting and also serves an important safety function. Add fixtures which incorporate design elements from the indoors and metals which compliment or design aesthetic. Want a nautical vibe? Try lanterns. Have a house with historic charm? Try antique sconces. If you have front porch steps, consider adding additional step lights for even more illumination.
🔑Open Door Policy
A front door says a lot about your home. A fresh coat of paint or freshly cleaned glass says that you have pride in your property. Try painting your door a fresh, bright color to enhance your curb appeal. A happy door is a happy house.
💺A Lotta Front Porch Sittin'
Make your porch your favorite room with the addition of seating. Try a porch swing or chairs with comfy cushions. Adirondack chairs are a Northeastern favorite. A great space to watch the goings on of your neighborhood or gather with friends.
🌷Planter Garden
Potted plants and flowers continue the outdoors up to your door and add a touch of color to an otherwise shady space. Choose plants that thrive with less sun like hostas and ferns. Planters should be selected in a scale that is appropriate for the porch. If your planter is too large then it will overwhelm the space. Also consider hanging planters.
🖼Fresh & Fun
Change out elements of your decor seasonally. Add a wreath to your front door for the holidays or pumpkins or gourds for the fall. No need to go crazy, minimal is better. These touches keep your porch fun and lively.
